Late Summer Is a Good Time to Assess Your AC’s Performance

green-checkmark

As we approach the official last day of summer, you’ll probably still use your air conditioning system on the regular. It stays hot in September, after all. But you’ll begin to think about preparing for the winter season, which means scheduling heating maintenance.

Right now, we want you to give your AC a bit of attention. It’s spent a hard summer battling the heat—how did it do at its job? Pick one of the following answers…

  • Great, no complaints!
  • Eh, it was okay.
  • It just wasn’t working as well as it used to.
  • The AC is the worst appliance in my house.

Depending on your answer, you may need to schedule service for your air conditioning system before the end of the summer, or even arrange to have a new one installed in the fall.

“Great, no complaints!”

We hope this was your answer. If it was, then we imagine you probably remembered to schedule an AC maintenance tune-up and inspection in the spring. This is the secret of a reliable air conditioner with a long service life. Keep it up! If you have our technicians maintain your AC each spring, you’ll have many years of “Gerat, no complaints!” in your future.

“Eh, it was okay.”

If this was your answer, then you’ll want to get down to the specifics. What, exactly, made the AC’s performance feel only adequate?

  • The house felt warmer than usual
  • There are hot spots around the house
  • The AC seemed to take longer to reach its target temperature
  • There was more noise than usual from the AC
  • You sometimes had to turn the thermostat lower than normal

These are all warning signs that your AC needs an inspection to check for possible repairs. In some cases (such as an AC nearing 15 years of operation), these signs may warn of an impending replacement.

“It just wasn’t working as well as it used to.”

In this case, you know something isn’t right with the air conditioner. You don’t have to think too hard about what’s going wrong with it. It’s encountering the same problems we listed above, but worse, and you may have needed to call for repairs during the summer. You may either need a major repair for the AC or give serious thought to having it replaced before it breaks down on you at the worst time.

“The AC is the worst appliance in my house.”

Time to replace it then! If you’re that certain you have a frustrating and near-useless air conditioner, you’re only wasting money keeping it around and trying to squeeze some cooling power from it. Reach out to our technicians and arrange for a replacement. We’ll make sure you have a new unit that works better than your current one did even when it was new.

We’re the company to keep in mind when you think “heating and air near me”! We’ve served Hart County since 1997.
